A Danish-Nigerian filmmaker discovers that he has an extra family and decides to (re)tell the story of his mother, his father and himself.

When he accidentally discovers that his Nigerian father has had a secret family, for 30 years, alongside the one he started in Denmark, the filmmaker Jilde Tom Akinleminu is prompted to investigate the story of his two families in depth. Through his conversations with his father, Danish mother and new family in Nigeria, new stories emerge that nobody had expected. But Jide’s project is not without risks, for what is it that awaits him at the end of the investigation? Or, as his unsentimental mother says: you can end up understanding yourself to death. A personal and courageous film with a heart in the right place.
