A group of the world’s leading scientists isolate themselves for 10 days in the desert of New Mexico to develop real solutions to the world’s most urgent problems.

Every time a new technology emerged, it changed our lives and our society. Today, this development is going faster than ever before. At the same time, the crises seem to be piling up on our only planet. What should we do? A group of the world’s leading scientists take up the fight and isolate themselves for ten days in a secluded spot in the desert of New Mexico to develop real solutions for today’s most urgent problems - and there is plenty to choose from. They come from all scientific disciplines and represent the environment, the economy, democracy, social media, education and artificial technologies. In just ten days, they want to start a movement with an ambitious goal: to secure the future of humanity through science, both in theory and in practice. Pernille Rose Grønkjær was given exclusive access to the ambitious think tank during the entire event last year. How do we reverse a global trend that is heading the way of the Titanic? As one of them says on day one: maybe what we need is a pandemic to pave the way for the necessary changes.

Debate: Can the solutions to the most pressing global challenges be found in the meeting between the world’s sharpest scientists?

Can we create a better world if we combine our knowledge? CPH:DOX opens this year’s Science programme with a conversation with the film’s director and the participating researcher and physicist Steen Rasmussen (University of Southern Denmark), as well as a panel of Danish top scientists, who give us their best takes on concrete solutions. Meet the economist and head of Inequality Platform Birthe Larsen (CBS), the astrophysicist and research communicator Anja C. Andersen (Copenhagen University), the philosopher and author Vincent Hendricks (Copenhagen University) and professor Mikkel Flyverbom (CBS). Moderator: Journalist, Mikkel Frey Damgaard.
